  • What is an alt tag?

    An alt tag is an attribute applied to image tags to provide a text alternative to provide more clarity to an image, especially for persons who rely on screen reader. Web pages, along with other documents, such as pdfs posted on the web, should provide alt tags for images.

  • Can I scan a document for sharing on the website?

    No. A scanned document may be saved as an image, not as text, and would not be accessible to screen readers.

The Balsz School District partners with Blackboard for our web services. They ensure their products are in compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 Level AA and the Section 508 standards in the United States.
