Brunson-Lee's Get Fit Don't Quit $100K Award
Ms. Crawford took initiative to apply for a grant in an effort to continue to promote health and wellness for all our students, staff and community. She collaborated with staff, students and families to provide input for the application. Her hard work paid off, Brunson Lee Elementary was selected as the 2019 School of the Year! On May 16, we took 100 students to the Talking Stick Resort Arena to an award ceremony and share what we were awarded. Our school received a state-of-the-art DON'T QUIT! Fitness Center worth $100,000. Each center includes strength training equipment, cardio fitness equipment, and a multi-exercise, group circuit training system. The award includes customized design, delivery and installation of the equipment within the school’s existing building structure. This generous award is made possible by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona and fitness icon Jake “Body by Jake” Steinfeld through the health and wellness program, Get Fit. Don’t Quit! Brunson Lee is committed to getting and keeping our students fit. Installation was completed in August and a ceremony took place in our school in September to unveil the new fitness center. During this ceremony Jake Steinfeld was in attendance. We look forward to enjoying the benefits of this center for years to come. Click the photo gallery to see more!
