Hello, my name is Lisa Krebs and I am the librarian at Griffith Elementary School. I absolutely love my job because I get to work with all of our students in grades Kindergarten through sixth grade!
I received my business and teaching degrees from Arizona State University. I also have endorsements in Early Childhood, English as a Second Language, Library Science, and Reading.
I have taught in the Balsz District for 19 years. I started as a third grade teacher at Crockett and have taught 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 7th grade reading, before becoming the librarian 3 years ago. During the past 3 years, I have developed an incredible love of children's books. I spend a lot of time reading and researching new titles because I need to stay on top of what's new and what's soon to be published. It's a great feeling when students come back after reading a book I recommend and say, "This is a good book." I smile and say, "I thought you might like it."
Dr. Seuss is my all time favorite author and we have a fabulous collection of his work in our library. Where the Red Fern Grows andManiac Magee are my favorite treasured novels and I read them every year.
I encourage students to let me know what they want to see in our library. I have a wish list for students where they can write down titles we don't have or titles that are soon to be published. Sometimes, they truly help me, because they find out about a new series or a new book in a series. We work together to make Griffith's Library the best it can be!
We want all students to develop a life long love of reading! We encourage our students to read and take Accelerated Reader quizzes. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help your child develop his/her love of reading.
Please feel free to stop up in the library anytime and chat!
Enjoy your reading adventures!
