Superintendent's Message

  • Greetings Balsz Family,

It has been a very busy end of the school year! Some schools are hosting summer school through June 3 and we have kicked into high gear planning and preparing for the 2022-2023 school year.

A large component of our work has been on the proposed 2022-2024 Balsz Strategic Plan.  During the past 100 days, there has been a deep dive on the district overall and the need to move our collective group to excellence.  Upon my arrival as Superintendent on February 1, I have met with students, staff, parents, community members, and partner organizations to help determine what is valued and what is desired in our continued path for the students and the community in Balsz.  Based on those conversations and the analytical research of the past five years of Balsz data, the proposed strategic plan will focus on four main areas:

    1. Solidifying Our Commitment to Excellence.
    2. Solidifying Our Sustainability as an Organization Towards Excellence.
    3. Embarking Towards Equitable Excellence.
    4. Securing Our Excellence.

While there will be more information regarding the 2022-2024 Strategic Plan after the June 14 Governing Board meeting, it is important that you are aware of the efforts, work, and the vision as we move forward.  As we plan to put items in action, we are looking forward to advancing the Balsz District, each school, and each student to help increase opportunities for our future and help create leaders of tomorrow.

Additionally, as we work on securing a better tomorrow for our students, we will continue to offer the best “today”, every day.  Specifically, as we are committed to the well-being of all lives on our campuses, we will continue to research and reinforce the best practices to help keep our buildings, and all of those within them, safe.  Our students and staff will continue to be in a place where they feel secure and can focus on learning in a positive environment.

Balsz has a remarkable history in the community, and as a district we are committed to the social and academic development of each student.  We have teams of caring adults in all of our buildings, along with engaged families, and community partners.  We are building to be better over the summer, finding new staff members, and developing new ways to create paths to greatness for our students.  These are powerful times to make changes for a better future for all.

I believe in Balsz.  There is work to do.  We are on our way to excellence

    George J. Barnes, Ed.D
