About This Adoption Process
Balsz Elementary School District is selecting a new K-8 mathematics curriculum for implementation beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. After careful initial review, our curriculum committee has identified four high-quality instructional programs for consideration:
In accordance with Arizona Revised Statute § 15-721, the district has initiated a 60-day public review period to allow all stakeholders the opportunity to examine these materials and provide meaningful feedback before our Governing Board makes a final adoption decision.
How to Participate

Location: Balsz Elementary School District Office
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Dates: January 5, 2026 through March 6, 2026
All four proposed curriculum programs are available for hands-on review. Examine student materials, teacher resources, digital components, and supplemental materials.

Legal Requirement: Arizona law (A.R.S. § 15-721) requires that instructional materials be made available for public inspection prior to adoption by the governing board. During the public review period, all proposed math curriculum materials are available for in-person review at the District Office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Each of the four programs under consideration is a comprehensive, research-based mathematics curriculum aligned to Arizona standards. Below you'll find an overview of each program's approach and key features.
Great Minds Eureka Squared
A knowledge-building PreK–Algebra I curriculum designed to develop both conceptual understanding and procedural fluency. Eureka Squared blends student-centered exploration with structured lessons that connect concepts across grades, helping learners understand the why behind the how in mathematics.
