    Welcome to First Grade 
    My name is Ms. Cave. I am really excited to be your child's teacher. This is my second year teaching First Grade at Griffith Elementary.  I graduated from Southwestern Christian College and started my teaching career as an Instructional Aide in the Reading Lab at Griffith. My two years in the Reading Lab provided me with valuable experiences for helping students learn how to read. Our classroom has a strong emphasis on phonics, practicing phonemic sounds, learning sight words, so your student can transition into an independent reader. This year our district implemented Common Core.
