    • Balsz Theory of Action:

Students own their learning by actively engaging in authentic learning experiences, making connections, and demonstrating clarity of purpose in all content areas.

      Resources:
      • Establishing purpose through lesson hooks (comprehensive list of specific ideas/strategies-- some may be more effective than others!)
      • Building a sense of purpose through project-based learning
      • Curriculum analysis (see blue highlights for specific criteria to consider in lesson planning)
      • Science Shows Making Lessons Relevant Really Matters (Edutopia article with specific ideas)
      • Rigor/Relevance Framework (adding another dimension to Blooms!)
      • Designing Lessons for Relevance, Authenticity, and Enduring Understandings
Students read critically, analyze, evaluate, and engage in academic discussions around appropriately rigorous and varied texts. Students use the writing process, demonstrating strong academic voice with attention to audience, purpose, and task. Students use a variety of strategies, persevering to solve complex problems and demonstrate conceptual understanding.
