  • Balsz School District is committed to ensuring our students and families connect with their exceptional teachers during this time of school closure. Each school day, Balsz Teachers will hold “virtual” office hours. We will use the platform Google Classroom, and the feature, Google Meet. As the weeks progress, teachers will begin adding instructional lessons to their Google Classrooms, organized in a checklist for the day. Please have your child log into Google Classroom each day. The majority of Balsz students are familiar with Google Classroom. We will ensure that our parents become familiar with Google Classroom, and both parents and students will become proficient with Google Meet. We invite you and your child to view the tutorials posted below for more help with both.

    If you need assistance with your computer, hotspot, password, or have other technical questions, please call one of the technology support lines below:
    602-629-6522                             602-629-6622
    602-629-6722                             602-629-6922

    *Note that support line hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm.*

    We appreciate your patience during this time. Scroll down for online program tutorials and community resources (including Internet and Devices) for families. See the "Coming Soon" section on this page for additional resources that will be shared soon.

    While Balsz School District is closed, we are partnering with families and the community to support our students' learning at home. While there will be online instruction and connection with teachers, for those families still without technology, we will be mailing Home Learning Packets out after April 2nd to assist families in supporting learning at home while schools are closed. In the packet, you will find multiple weeks of lessons and activities for use at home. The contents within the packet do not require technology or online supports. The purpose of this work is to provide the ability for your child to practice standards they have previously been taught this school year. If your child is able to access technology at home, the packet can serve as extra practice as needed. If you would like a packet before receiving it in the mail, please click here.  If you have any questions about this, contact drobles@balsz.org or 602-629-6400.

    Additionally there is a new statewide hotline that residents can call with questions related to COVID-19. It is available in both English and Spanish, and can be reached by dialing 2-1-1 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
    The hotline will provide information on:

    • how to prepare for and prevent the spread of COVID-19;
    • testing for COVID-19 as it becomes available;
    • who is at a higher risk of contracting COVID-19;
    • what to do if you get sick; and
    • where to find the most up-to-date and accurate information (e.g., the CDC).
