Balsz District Welcomes Two New Principals!
FACT SHEET: Balsz School District Welcomes Two New Principals for the 2018-2019 School Year
•We are incredibly grateful for all the hard work, passion and knowledge our outgoing principals Mrs. Elsa Aguirre and Dr. Ryan LoMonaco contributed to our district and their respective schools during their tenure and we wish them the best of luck with their future endeavors.
•Leticia Castro will serve as the new principal for Brunson-Lee Elementary. Castro has previously served as a teacher, instructional coach, English language learner coach and assistant principal.
Castro holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies and language diversity with a minor in English as a Second Language (ESL) and two master’s degrees. She also has certificate endorsements in ESL and early childhood education and was recognized as a Rodel Aspiring Principal in 2015.
We are confident Castro’s bilingual skills, extensive knowledge of ESL and early childhood education will make her a great asset to the district.
•Annamarie Dowling-Garrott will take on the role of principal at Griffith Elementary. Dowling-Garrott has over two decades of experience as an educator, having served as a teacher, assistant principal, director of technology and principal.
Dowling-Garrott holds a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees. Her master’s degrees are in educational administration and reading.
Dowling-Garrott’s wide educational interests include anti-bullying initiatives, the effects of adverse childhood experiences, and positive behavior intervention and supports. Balsz School District looks forward to utilizing her wealth of knowledge to better serve its students.
•Both new principals are looking forward to joining the Balsz Community and are excited for a fantastic school year ahead.
